How to Use HSC Question Bank for HSC Exam Prep

HSC Question Bank is a premium library of HSC Mathematics Advanced, Extension 1, and Extension 2 problems for exam revision. Open any problem from the Problems page, filter by course or topic in whatever order suits your study plan, and use your school textbook alongside for full syllabus coverage.

What These Problems Are For

These problems are written for Advanced, Extension 1, and Extension 2 exam preparation and review. They emphasise exam techniques and focused practice — but they are not intended to replace your textbooks or classroom notes. Treat them as a rigorous revision companion: use them to strengthen weak topics, then return to your textbook or teacher when you need fuller explanations or syllabus breadth.

Can I Practise Topics in Any Order?

Yes. Each problem stands on its own, so you can practise in any order that matches what you are revising this week. Topic and tag filters help when skills connect, but nothing locks you into a fixed pathway — jump to trigonometry today, mechanics next week, and back to your textbook whenever you need more context.

Browsing and Filtering Problems

On the Problems page, open the search panel in the sidebar to:

• Search — match keywords against titles, summaries, and tags.
• Course — filter Advanced, Extension 1 (MEX1), or Extension 2 (MEX2).
• Topics & tags — narrow by syllabus topic or skill. Click a tag to toggle it on or off. By default, the filter uses an OR operation, meaning any problem containing at least one of the selected tags will be displayed. Click the Match: OR / AND button to switch to an AND operation, requiring the problem to have all of the selected tags.
• Difficulty — Good first (0–2), Standard (3), or Challenge (4–5).
• Saved — bookmark problems and revisit them from Saved.

Additionally, when viewing a specific problem, you can use the Similar Problems recommendations to drill down into related questions and target your weak areas.

Advanced Study Tools

• Progress Tracking & Dashboard: View your statistics and track your mastery of different topics over time via your personal dashboard.
• Playlists & PDF Worksheets: Curate your own custom lists of problems (Playlists) and export them as offline-ready PDF worksheets for trial exam practice.
• Focus Mode: Open Focus Mode from a problem page to practice that question, or start a Focus Session from the Dashboard or Problems page for a distraction-free flashcard flow.

Suggested Study Pathways by Course

Start with your weakest topics — not necessarily the newest problems. Pick a course filter, then a topic that will give you the biggest exam improvement first.

• Mathematics Advanced — core calculus, functions, and probability foundations.
• Mathematics Extension 1 — sequences, trigonometry, combinatorics, polynomials, and distributions.
• Mathematics Extension 2 — proofs, complex numbers, inequalities, mechanics, vectors, and harder integrals.

Suggested Study Tips

• Good first, then challenge: Warm up with difficulty 0–2, then move to challenge problems when you want Question 16–style stretch.
• Topic focus: Use topic filters for a single revision session — depth beats random browsing.
• Save and revisit: Bookmark problems you miss, then return via Saved before trials and the HSC.
